Medical Story: Clinic
January 24, 2020
In January we hosted our first medical team of 2020! A team with members from Boston and Pittsburgh visited Ethiopia ACT to run a clinic providing medical care for project beneficiaries and partnered church communities. The team served for five days in three different communities of Addis Ababa and were able to see more than 341 patients during that time. With CityLife Church’s help we were able to host our second clinic in the Ayat community using the compound of Mercy Reformed church for two days. Because of the medical team’s presence on the church grounds, the church staff was able to engage more intentionally with their local community.
This team was comprised of eleven members: four medical professionals, two physical therapists, one pharmacist, two computer engineers, and two non-medical individuals.
While all the physicians and nurses were assisting patients at the clinic, the computer engineers were hard at work at Ethiopia ACT’s project office developing a mobile data collection app for our family advocates. This has been a dream for a long time and will assist our family advocates as they perform home visits. It will enable clean, up-to-date data to be uploaded directly into our beneficiary tracking system, allowing our team to monitor physical and mental health, relational and domestic issues, and so much more!
